Endura SPORTS-TAPE

This beige, SUPER RIGID, HIGH ADHESIVE tape is designed to support joints under maximum stress. As the body warms up, the specially formulated heat-sensitive adhesive responds by increasing adhesion to ensure a secure grip, even with perspiration, water or cold weather.

This white HYPOALLERGENIC WATER REPELLANT tape  may be used under EnduraSPORTS-TAPE on shoulders and knees or used alone on shoulders and back. Soft and stretchy, EnduraFIX provides extra comfort and protection, especially on sensitive skin.

Visit by Jim Western from West Coast Eagles

Jim Western the head trainer of West Coast Eagles Football Club visited Singapore Sports Medicine Central Store and provided valuable advise that promises technic of using more up to date sports medicine products.

Professional like Jim Western works with a team of 27 staff members under him consisting of trainers and massager to care for 47 professional footballers playing in the Australian Football League under the Australian rules football. This game is the most prestigious in Australia national competition which culminates in the annual AFL Grand Final, currently the fourth highest attended club championship event in the world.

Injuries are a common occurrence in high contact sport like the Australian rules football, the game allow sports trainers to be mobilized on the field to attend to traumatic injuries without having to stop the game. Each team is allowed 6 such trainers to be positioned round the pitch.  This is a 120 minutes game consisting of 4 quarter of 30 minutes each, half time is a 15 minutes rest.

Sports Medicine products that commonly required for such aggressive sports include high quality Endura tape for taping of the ankle, shoulder, wrist and fingers. Cold compress, massage cream & lotion, blisters and abrasions prevention products such as Mueller's More Skin and a whole lot of the best quality products that only specialized Sports Medicine store carries.

A lot of injuries can be prevented so that the team can play at their best till the end of the competition, less injuries will also mean more saving such as having to seek medical treatment such a knee operation and for some team it can mean losing the championship title.

Cold Therapy: How Does it Work?

Why do I need cold therapy?

Two of the most unpleasant side effects of orthopedic trauma or surgery are pain and swelling. These conditions affect the healing process and can lead to longer rehabilitation times. Cold therapy is widely recognized as one of the most effective treatment methods to combat these issues. By using cold therapy you are taking an important step in speeding up the recovery process, getting you back to the pain-free life you deserve.

How does cold therapy work?

Cold therapy is effective for a variety of reasons. First, it decreases fluid build up (swelling) in the injured body part. Second, it slows the release of chemicals that cause pain and inflammation. Third, cold decreases pain by reducing the ability of the nerve endings to conduct impulses. And lastly, it aids in pain relief by limiting the muscle’s ability to maintain contraction, thus reducing muscle spasm. Because of these benefits, cold therapy is generally prescribed throughout the duration of your rehabilitation.

Why is motorized cold therapy better than ice or gel packs?
Ice and gel packs administer intense cold over a small application area for a short period of time, requiring frequent trips to the freezer.

Cold therapy systems, such as Polar Care Kodiak, deliver a motorized flow of cold therapy through circulation pads that are specifically designed for different body parts and applications. And, they deliver cold within a comfortable temperature range that allows for longer-term application according to your physician’s prescribed treatment protocol. Depending on the type of unit you are provided, the system will typically maintain its cold for 6-11 hours per ice change.

Compression is another widely recognized method for relieving uncomfortable swelling associated with surgery.  Polar Care Kodiak systems help to alleviate this condition by comfortably compressing the injury site, thus aiding the healing process.
